AEM Independence Day Resource Roundup

Hello fellow educators.  We hope you each have a wonderful Independence Day celebration!  George Washington Carver once said, “Education is the key that unlocks the golden door to freedom”.  Educating youth about America’s history in an accurate and engaging way is crucial.  Did you know the Onepoll.us completed a study that shows one out of every three American’s don’t know the true meaning of Independence Day?  We enjoy the food, fireworks, and gatherings, yet it is also important to remember why we celebrate this day.  The battles fought, the ideals created, a country born, a government forming and evolving, a heritage built upon natives and immigrants.

So, this week the Resource Roundup was designed to provide links to resources that can help elevate America’s Independence Day in the classroom in new ways.

This Saturday we are looking forward to our next Leading Light meet-up as we experience the magic of bioluminescence during a kayaking excursion.  Remember to check out the “Programs” portion of our website to connect with upcoming professional development Discovery Day opportunities that will get your hands dirty and feet wet!

As the summer progresses, we will continue to highlight AEM Educator Ambassadors and topics that they would like to highlight.  If you are looking for resources on a specific topic, please reach out and we will be happy to see what we can do to help you.  Have an ideas for a future Leading Light or Discovery Day?  We would love to hear them and we can try to work those ideas into a future event.
