AEM Native American Culture Resource Roundup

Happy, cooler, Thursday!  We hope you are enjoying the cooler weather and the reality that the Thanksgiving break is so very close!  We will take a break from the Resource Roundup next week, but will be back the first week of December with new resource links.  Have a topic you would like to see featured?  Send me the topic and we will see what we can do!

On December 8, from 1-4pm, we hope to see you at The Acre for a Leading Light meet-up and a used (wrapped) book exchange.  Yes, you may buy new if you wish to do so.  This is a great time to meet other educators, build community, network, and gain ideas.  You are welcome to bring family and friends as well.

This week, the Resource Roundup is highlighting Native American Cultures.  This is a wonderful time to connect your students with lessons and activities that can help provide a more accurate understanding of the importance of indigenous peoples to the nation.  Students learn about their culture which then fosters empathy and understanding.  There is a strong value in culture-based education and we hope that this weeks’ resources will connect you to some opportunities to engage your students in learning about an essential part of the USA’s history.

Check out Living Nations Living words, enjoy digital learning activities, learn about American Indian gardening, explore place-based history, engage with a Native American Technology lesson plan, uncover how Indigenous peoples have used science and engineering to create tools, and so much more!
