AEM PD and Empowering Youth Resource Roundup

Hello from the team at Authentic Exploration Matters(AEM).  It has been exciting to see all of the updates, plans, preparations, and hopes the educator community has been sharing.  As you continue through the year, remember that we are here to help elevate and support the educator community.  We will be offering a myriad of one-day Discovery Day professional development workshops.  Our next one is being hosted by ORCA - The Ocean Research and Conservation Association which was founded by Dr. Edie Widder, who will be featured in an upcoming National Geographic documentary.  The Discovery Day will be held at their citizen science center in Vero Beach on Friday, August 24.  You can access information and register for the FREE event on our website at: https://www.authenticexplorationmatters.com/discovery-day .

Space is limited.  This is an amazing opportunity to learn about ways to elevate data collection and analyzing techniques that center on a local Florida ecosystem.  You will be trained in a program that engages youth in hands-on citizen science to monitor the health of the Indian River Lagoon and the challenges it faces.

This week's Resource Roundup features just a few resources and databases that align with curriculum and activities that can elevate the process of empowering youth to be the changemakers of the future.

As we know, the future holds a lot of variables that today’s youth will need to learn to adapt and/or mitigate.  It is essential to provide students with opportunities that not only address how they view challenges/problems but also elevate their unique abilities to create waves of positive change.  The process can be exceedingly empowering and show youth that they have ways to tackle challenges in ways that are meaningful.  Creating a future filled with empowered changemakers also elevates collaboration and cooperation as we strive to make positive changes in local, regional, and global communities on a wide variety of perspectives.  Looking for resources that align with something else?  Simply reach out to me, Kirstin Cowan authentic.exploration.matters.kc@gmail.com, and I will see how I can help you.
